Something fresh! Jotsky
We are glad to announce new LiveJournal service - Jotsky!

Jotsky is an online service for notes and reminders. It makes sure you never forget thoughts or ideas, no matter whether you are in front of your computer or only have a mobile phone in hand. It's an easy way to remind yourself (or someone else) to buy groceries, send a birthday card, or get that long-overdue haircut. It has many uses and new ones are being
discovered every day.

Jotsky is a LiveJournal service - you don't need to register, just specify your username and start using Jotsky!

1) There's a typo in your last sentence.

2) How about post by email, with support for multiple email addresses? Many people work in locations where cell phones don't work and internet access is limited.

3) Something that would compile my notes into a LiveJournal entry once a day/week/month/whatever would be cool.

4) I'm unable to locate a feedback tool/address/form on the Jotsky page.

thank you for your feedback!
1) oops, thanks
2) we will regularly add functions, also including e-mail posting
3) LJ integration is one of our main priorities in updates
4) isn't there Support in the bottom of the page?

thank you for your feedback!

Re: thank you for your feedback!
4) Yes there is. I don't generally think of support as the feedback method. Noted, thanks!

Doesn't twitter+loudtwitter (or something) do #3 already?
Tango, The Wild Dreamrebelsheart on May 26th, 2008 04:05 pm (UTC)
Yes, but they aren't LJ products and I don't generally tweet reminders to myself. Jotsky seems designed to be a far better version of LJ's to-do list feature.

Which reminds me I need to look at that. (I didn't at first because I didn't like the idea of public to-do items, and by the time I got my paid account, I had mostly forgotten it existed.)

seems to work fine in Sea Monkey latest version as of date of this post.
Mannamanna on May 26th, 2008 04:26 pm (UTC)
Interesting. I like being able to filter to notes containing a particular word.

I don't seem to have a 'delete' option on the Jotsky menu, in either Opera or Firefox. Nor does the 'settings' option at the bottom of the screen lead anywhere.
Tango, The Wild Dreamrebelsheart on May 26th, 2008 05:23 pm (UTC)
Right click on the note.
Mannamanna on May 26th, 2008 05:42 pm (UTC)
Sorry, I wasn't clear.

If I right-click, I get the menu, but it has no delete option in it. I have a 'New Reminder' option which gives me a new note, three 'Arrange' options all of which seem to work okay, and 'Settings' which does nothing if clicked.

Hmm...a quick perusal of the FAQ suggests I'm also missing a 'Change Colour' option on the menu.

Also, it logged me straight in to Jotsky without taking me to any kind of LJ authorisation page, not even for the first time I logged in. I assumed that was because I'm currently logged in to LJ) but should it actually have taken me to some kind of verification page? I don't seem to have Jotsky or anything else listed as trusted at http://www.livejournal.com/openid/options.bml.
Belkabelka: Labscrazyprotein on May 26th, 2008 07:08 pm (UTC)
1) doble click on the sticker - menu1 (colors and delete)
2) double click anywhere else - menu2 (arrange and new sticker and Settings)
3) about Settings - sounds queer
can U please make a screenshot?
what browser/os do you use?

and Jotsky is already trusted domain for LJ
but still thank you for your feedback

I've found the source of the problem. I use AdMuncher, and for some reason it was killing half the menus but not the other half. I've set Admuncher not to filter the jotsky links, and now it's all working fine. Thanks for you help!

"OpenID authorization error. Please check username spelling and try once again."

does not work for me, even after many tries.

Do you get a query page from LiveJournal asking whether to allow the identity validation request from jotsky.com? (Forgot what the exact wording is.) If you got it, did you answer "Yes, always", "yes, this time", or "no"?

If you go to http://www.livejournal.com/openid/options.bml, do you see jotsky.com listed on that page?
southernflower: staticsouthernflower on May 26th, 2008 07:47 pm (UTC)
i don't see anything listed there. i didn't receive a query page :/
how do i allow openid?
Andrew Duckerandrewducker on May 27th, 2008 09:43 pm (UTC)
Hmmm. Seeing as it's not a XXX.Livejournal.com site, why not go the whole hog and just make it OpenID rather than LJ based?
Belkabelka: Labscrazyprotein on May 28th, 2008 05:35 am (UTC)
well, the main reason I suppose is that we work in LJ and our goal is to provide our users more services and features :)
and we are going to make Jotsky more and more connected with LJ functionality, so we can't make it just OpenID, it will stay LJ-family service.

I'm lovin' it so far - are there plans in the future to make the font changeable?

RE: Jotsky
wow! I've just tried, really user-friendly, it's like online "Post-it", very convenient to use, thanks for your recommendation.

I'm just mildly curious - why did you guys feel the need to make it in a stickies format, when there are already lots of other web-based stickies apps?

you can't block from reading of one user, you can make your entry or journal "friends only"
and you can't delete yourself from someone's friends

This has been an issue [for some people] since...
...the earliest days of LiveJournal.

There are several options you have to reduce the "footprint" of an undesirable person who has friended you:

1) Remove the "friends of" list from your user info page.
2) Use the LJ console and ban them [they will no longer be able to comment on even your public posts, unless you allow anonymous posting]
3) As others have suggested, the only way to completely ensure they are not reading your posts is to not post publicly.

Fundamentally, though, there is nothing you can do to prevent them from adding them to their friends list.

If you think you have a better suggestion, use the LJ "Suggestions" community mechanism to present it.
